Benjamin Knaupp

Ben Knaupp has been serving clients in Oregon for estate planning, probate, real estate, business, and tax law in Oregon for over 23 years. He has helped hundreds of diverse clients plan their estates, create trusts, and resolve disputes through mediation, arbitration, and in the state and federal court rooms in Oregon. In his 23 years of law experience, he has represented a wide variety of clients including families, individual Oregonians, small business owners, homeowners, real estate investors, medical clinics, franchising companies, charities, home owners associations, manufacturers, retailers, trust companies and a health care network. Furthermore, as a business owner, executive of a health care company and real estate investor, he understand the individual needs of property and business owners. Ben's paramount goal is to provide superior and ethical service for a reasonable cost. 

Background and credentials

Ben was admitted to practice law before all courts in Oregon in September of 1997. He was appointed as a Pro Tem judge for Washington County Circuit Court in 2018 for a three year term, and again in 2021. He is admitted to the Oregon state courts, the United States Tax Court, the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has authored four articles that have been published in periodicals including Business Week Magazine, The Asset Protection Journal, The Brigham Young University Law Review and The International Trade and Business Law Annual of the University of Queensland. He was the editor in chief of the 2012 (revised) Oregon Health Law Manual.

Ben is also a frequent public speaker and instructor. He has spoken at dozens of seminars since 2009 and regularly trains realtors on Oregon real estate law. He was a presenter at the Oregon Health Law Section's annual meeting for attorneys in 2007 on health law. He was also a presenter at the National Business Institute's 2004 international tax law seminar for attorneys and tax professionals. Additionally, he has spoken to consumer and business groups on a variety of business and real estate topics.

​In his academic training, Ben received academic scholarships throughout his undergraduate and law school training.  He honed his skills as a writer and editor first for the BYU Law Review. Ben received his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University where he graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science in 1994.  He then received his juris doctor degree at the Brigham Young University Law School with cum laude honors in 1997.

Personal

When he's not working, Ben enjoys spending time with his wife of 25+ years and their five children. He also enjoys gardening, weight lifting, running, basketball, playing the guitar and singing.
